Texas Commission on Law Enforcement

Officer Standards and Education

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education is an agency of the State of Texas. Its mission is to ensure a Texas where people are served by highly trained and ethical law enforcement and corrections personnel through screening, developing, and monitoring resources and setting standards. The Commission accomplishes this mission by developing and maintaining courses for preparatory training and continuing education; developing and administering examinations over these courses; and issuing licenses to peace officers, reserve law enforcement officers, and county corrections officers who have met the Commission's standards. The Commission is also involved in a number of projects designed to improve professionalism in the field of law enforcement, and to honor those Texas peace officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.
